And there's a new kid (or should I say, boy) in town who offers them --- mainly and specifically, OYSTERS. The name? CHARCOAL BOY Grilled and Oysters.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IRxK7lLfNv4/WWDRibPMUgI/AAAAAAAAF6w/0cGTWRQN9pghK5OR2lj7i7p2D0ZHJYI2QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170702_175402.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IRxK7lLfNv4/WWDRibPMUgI/AAAAAAAAF6w/0cGTWRQN9pghK5OR2lj7i7p2D0ZHJYI2QCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170702_175402.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Charcoal Boy was on soft opening when we went there last week. It's found in Mahogany Place, a new commercial hub in Mabolo just across San Carlos Seminary on the same side as Leona's Pastries. Mahogany Place has a parking lot which is a plus for Charcoal Boy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--btxI2i4ZZw/WWDWbjkfyYI/AAAAAAAAF68/zSAb9vmekOI5_K-UxFbem9uen-ep54b8QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170702_175902.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--btxI2i4ZZw/WWDWbjkfyYI/AAAAAAAAF68/zSAb9vmekOI5_K-UxFbem9uen-ep54b8QCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170702_175902.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Once inside, we ordered for the Baked Cheese and Garlic Oysters and some pork belly barbecue.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PN-H3fNwJXk/WWDaGNsX7YI/AAAAAAAAF7E/7BPxH08ftnouf2PJWKYYwzP4Tkv5Zil_wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170702_181229.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PN-H3fNwJXk/WWDaGNsX7YI/AAAAAAAAF7E/7BPxH08ftnouf2PJWKYYwzP4Tkv5Zil_wCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170702_181229.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
For one order, we were served around 9 oysters I think. Based on what I tasted, the oysters appear to be fresh. I liked the mix of cheese and garlic. The taste was just right. The oyster itself has a nice texture and feeling in the mouth when eaten. Next time, I would definitely try the other oysters in the menu and they have at least 5 more if I remember correctly. Next up may be the Baked Hot Chili Oysters for me on the next visit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KOgFXcUtJ6g/WWDk3AAt-vI/AAAAAAAAF7M/5IqwvrrrDhUdAuuea_EEWKKcZosAdc18gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170702_181221.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KOgFXcUtJ6g/WWDk3AAt-vI/AAAAAAAAF7M/5IqwvrrrDhUdAuuea_EEWKKcZosAdc18gCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170702_181221.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
The barbecuse serving was quite big. And I also liked the taste. It was not hard to chew at all unlike other barbecues. Goes well with vinegar, soy sauce and "sili".<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0MXWh78PYZQ/WWDpOl5E0HI/AAAAAAAAF7Y/1foL9DIZ5OQ5GAn5giOFXwTGyg0BAgIkwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170702_181253.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0MXWh78PYZQ/WWDpOl5E0HI/AAAAAAAAF7Y/1foL9DIZ5OQ5GAn5giOFXwTGyg0BAgIkwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170702_181253.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And the rice serving was quite big.<br />
<br />
There are other items in the menu being offered by Charcoal Boy, obviously, mostly grilled and some classic faves like Sinigang, Pancit Canton, Lechon Kawali and Crispy Pata to name a few.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gUE0qzSg0oY/WWDnW0sv-MI/AAAAAAAAF7U/bX5ENn57rnoiqcRp8RrV-vnElOn80N8mgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170702_175837.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gUE0qzSg0oY/WWDnW0sv-MI/AAAAAAAAF7U/bX5ENn57rnoiqcRp8RrV-vnElOn80N8mgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170702_175837.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
From this list, it can be seen that there are more to come back for and try here in Charcoal Boy Cebu.cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-58827414070831898472016-09-17T16:42:00.000-07:002016-11-23T16:56:33.527-08:00Prime Ready-for-occupancy units at the Mactan Newtown<br />

According to her, she had a favorite halo-halo hangout nearby from her teenage years. And then she invited us to drop by this halo-halo haven known as Carla's halo-halo.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g71slL1xsmE/U0sk-_pIC9I/AAAAAAAAFQ8/CrY66chOhu4/s1600/IMG_20140412_135128.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g71slL1xsmE/U0sk-_pIC9I/AAAAAAAAFQ8/CrY66chOhu4/s1600/IMG_20140412_135128.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
The halo-halo I think is just PHP50 and boy it was worth it. It was interesting to find strips or scrapings of what appeared to be jelly or gulaman instead of pearls or beads. The ingredients were in sizes that make you appreciate the halo halo's taste more. Not too sweet and it has mango and buko bits. The ice is fine and no clumps are found. On top is the ice cream. I loved it.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
They also accept short orders of various pancit like bihon and at night they have live band performances. As I write this piece, they are also showing the Pacquiao vs. Bradley fight at Php 100 with choices of various food and/or drinks for free.<br />

It's nice to know that there's another Cebuano halo-halo worth promoting found outside Cebu City.cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-73207144261438947482014-03-31T04:53:00.000-07:002014-03-31T19:12:27.315-07:00What is making me go bananas this summerSummer time and I am a just going bananas right now - literally. Why? Because I've found an alternative to the usual shakes that seem to come out as the heat of summer begins. And it has bananas in them.<br />
<br />
Ladies and Gentlemen, meet....... Orange Brutus banana chocolate! It's just the perfect shake for summer (not to mention you get the health benefits of the banana for free). Banana is a good source of dietary fiber which is good for the health of your heart. It is also a good source of potassium, an important electrolyte for vital cellular processes.It also contains vitamin B and C. And banana is believed to have antacid effects.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span id="goog_1915231787"></span><span id="goog_1915231788"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fxe-tOw5csU/UzlBywjh77I/AAAAAAAAFLo/Z1X5ZMSoluQ/s1600/IMG_20140329_164335.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fxe-tOw5csU/UzlBywjh77I/AAAAAAAAFLo/Z1X5ZMSoluQ/s1600/IMG_20140329_164335.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What's also nice about their shakes is the ice. They are finely crushed and you don't encounter clumps clogging the straw as you enjoy your shake. They come in cups though, and not the glass that you see here. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another banana shake variant of Orange Brutus is the Banana Marshmallow for those who love their chocolates with blended marshmallows. </div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tBsv_MWo7_g/UzlAgJzMrGI/AAAAAAAAFLg/ilQvbiJbNTU/s1600/IMG_20140329_170211.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tBsv_MWo7_g/UzlAgJzMrGI/AAAAAAAAFLg/ilQvbiJbNTU/s1600/IMG_20140329_170211.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Banana Marshmallow</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The third variant is the Banana Peanut Butter. Yes, you heard it right. Banana Peanut butter. Peanut butter is usually present in breakfast tables so this makes this flavor an interesting choice for a shake. My friend Ruben personally likes this variant while I like the Banana Chocolate.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O9fJyLqdG-8/UzlHvpY9stI/AAAAAAAAFL4/8-WliGs6ATg/s1600/IMG_20140329_174803.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O9fJyLqdG-8/UzlHvpY9stI/AAAAAAAAFL4/8-WliGs6ATg/s1600/IMG_20140329_174803.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Banana Peanut butter</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
These shakes will be available starting April 1 in Orange Brutus stores and these includes the newly-opened Super Metro Colon branch at the second floor and soon the new Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall branch with its new location at the ground floor instead of the Food Court.<br />
<br />
And since we are in the season of Lent, Orange Brutus offers choices like their Fish Fillet and Vegetable lumpia.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wiFn8L9nSn4/UzlMt6_TCoI/AAAAAAAAFMI/NJTZXdgTR3E/s1600/IMG_20140330_054329.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wiFn8L9nSn4/UzlMt6_TCoI/AAAAAAAAFMI/NJTZXdgTR3E/s1600/IMG_20140330_054329.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Orange Brutus Lenten offerings</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Of course there's still the usual customer faves.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ajzWm5HMGQI/UzlQnpfzo3I/AAAAAAAAFMU/DFINQ0Bh9fU/s1600/IMG_20140329_170416.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ajzWm5HMGQI/UzlQnpfzo3I/AAAAAAAAFMU/DFINQ0Bh9fU/s1600/IMG_20140329_170416.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--wwLvP7QeA8/UzlQ0djYG_I/AAAAAAAAFMc/5KoO_YVwQG8/s1600/IMG_20140329_170827.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--wwLvP7QeA8/UzlQ0djYG_I/AAAAAAAAFMc/5KoO_YVwQG8/s1600/IMG_20140329_170827.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HRHuGd52wqk/UzlQ4vjkgwI/AAAAAAAAFMk/ODZBO5MqDvw/s1600/IMG_20140329_170939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HRHuGd52wqk/UzlQ4vjkgwI/AAAAAAAAFMk/ODZBO5MqDvw/s1600/IMG_20140329_170939.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the signature Orange Brutus sizzling Burger Steak...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9U7LbGYM1-Q/UzlSZvKDgMI/AAAAAAAAFMw/W6O7AN1wdeU/s1600/IMG_20140329_170814.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9U7LbGYM1-Q/UzlSZvKDgMI/AAAAAAAAFMw/W6O7AN1wdeU/s1600/IMG_20140329_170814.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
So the next time you grab an Orange Brutus Spicy Chori Burger or a Brute Burger, you may want to pair it with these shakes and just go bananas!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nFEobw3znp0/UzlTvdjReOI/AAAAAAAAFM8/xnop0KR4_4s/s1600/IMG_20140330_053950.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nFEobw3znp0/UzlTvdjReOI/AAAAAAAAFM8/xnop0KR4_4s/s1600/IMG_20140330_053950.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

</div>
I have heard about the many activities that can be done in Papa Kits and I have been curious of their restaurant, so me and my wife decided to go there ourselves and try it out.<br />
<br />
The entrance to Papa Kits Fishing Lagoon is near a church and even when commuting, it is quite easy to locate. The entrance fee when you are not staying overnight is 100 pesos, half of which is said to be consumable for snacks.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6-jV2a9YtyY/UsPR1j3VVdI/AAAAAAAAFFE/v9vr3A30OEI/s1600/IMG_8871.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6-jV2a9YtyY/UsPR1j3VVdI/AAAAAAAAFFE/v9vr3A30OEI/s400/IMG_8871.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">near the entrance</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Just by the entrance is the horseback-riding area and bicycle area. One can rent bikes for a certain period (forgot the rates) and do biking of course with your friends, barkada or sweetheart. Or you can rent a horse for P75 per 15 minutes per head and have the chance to ride it in a certain stretch of the property. Initially the guide will hold the horse by a rope as you all take a stroll then towards the other half of the route, you are given the opportunity to "drive" the horse yourself with the guide beside you.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bmbnWaVfhJ4/Us97S0xT6oI/AAAAAAAAFFk/76CpvP-pHrk/s1600/IMG_8880.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bmbnWaVfhJ4/Us97S0xT6oI/AAAAAAAAFFk/76CpvP-pHrk/s1600/IMG_8880.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VTs1Ac8x6hg/Us9_5i2sHiI/AAAAAAAAFF4/eLvF3HGcaAs/s1600/IMG_8885.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VTs1Ac8x6hg/Us9_5i2sHiI/AAAAAAAAFF4/eLvF3HGcaAs/s1600/IMG_8885.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In some distance from the entrance is the Fishing Lagoon and Restaurant. To get there, you can either walk or opt to ride on their free transport which can bring you to various parts of the property.<br />
<br />
So let's talk about the restaurant. It is located in the vicinity of the fishing area. The fishing area consists of cottages where families can do their fishing and perhaps eat their catch along with other items ordered.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X9SyxU1lUvM/UtlIqME4oZI/AAAAAAAAFGY/b-6r37Awm9o/s1600/IMG_8638.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X9SyxU1lUvM/UtlIqME4oZI/AAAAAAAAFGY/b-6r37Awm9o/s1600/IMG_8638.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span id="goog_811712947"></span><span id="goog_811712948"></span>Here is what we ordered throughout our overnight stay and they were all delicious especially the seafoods. You can also have a fresh fish from their aquarium cooked for an additional service fee.<br />

One thing to improve on is the service especially during peak days like Sundays. We went there on a Sunday and the staff is overwhelmed with the big number of diners not to count those who were fishing on the cottages which they ahve to serve also. Plates, spoon and fork were lacking. Perhaps they would have to find a way to meet the demand during these peak times especially Sunday lunch time.<br />

One of them located in Mango Avenue or Gen. Maxilom Ave, is Island Grill. To recall, Island Grill used to have stalls in mall foodcourts only. The opening of a restaurant in Ayala signalled their entry into the restaurants with a modern carinderia feel.<br />
<br />
Compared to other establishments offering Filipino dishes, Island Grill is more affordable and yet they offer good food. Their best offering is perhaps in their grilled dishes especially involving pork and chicken. Especially the Chicken Bacolod style. But I knew that already. For their Mango avenue branch, I tried their grilled fish dishes.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grilled tangigue</td></tr>

<br />
The tangigue was fine although I can't explain why I was still looking for something more about this particular grilled fish. Maybe the cut was too thick but that is good news for some as that would mean they would consume more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NclzZ7VAGf4/UsO4zjasMBI/AAAAAAAAFEQ/Zgd13w4it70/s1600/IMG_8189.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NclzZ7VAGf4/UsO4zjasMBI/AAAAAAAAFEQ/Zgd13w4it70/s400/IMG_8189.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This particular dish was much better. (Forgot the name of this fish).<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dinuguan</td></tr>

One of their cheaper offerings is dinuguan and it is not the diluted kind.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IPA3zH3ClIc/UsO6fAoG97I/AAAAAAAAFEs/vxa56YHCIU0/s1600/IMG_8182.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IPA3zH3ClIc/UsO6fAoG97I/AAAAAAAAFEs/vxa56YHCIU0/s320/IMG_8182.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
They offer many other choices and the price is student-friendly. With their location in Mango, students (like those from STC or Velez College), now have another option for their lunch destination. It's relatively cheaper yet the food tastes nice in general.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
The food are displayed for you to see like in carinderias or in their mall stalls but you can order like in restaurants where you are given a menu list. Place is airconditioned, clean, pleasant to the eyes although not really big.<br />
<br />
So students and employees nearby, you now have another choice especially if you are craving for Filipino food but you do not want to spend much. It's located near National Bookstore and across JESA ITC Building.cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-38422176878941171442013-12-25T22:36:00.001-08:002013-12-31T22:33:09.497-08:00Food Review: Boosog at Juana Osmena Street, Cebu CityJuana Osmena Street is becoming the new destination for Filipino food lovers with the opening of two restaurants in the area offering Filipino dishes. One such establishment is Boosog, the same one found in Mabolo. We will talk of the other restaurant in another post.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HjN8OUwds-g/UrvID3C4B4I/AAAAAAAAFB4/yKubh0VwtsM/s1600/IMG_8118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HjN8OUwds-g/UrvID3C4B4I/AAAAAAAAFB4/yKubh0VwtsM/s320/IMG_8118.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Boosog is located in the corner of R. Aboitiz and Juana Osmena Streets, within walking distance of St. Theresa's College, Redemptorist Parish and National Bookstore. They offer several choices of Filipino dishes.<br />
<br />
When me and my wife checked the place, there were many foreigners dining. We tried their pork sinigang, rellenong talong, and baked scallops. With regards to the aforementioned foods, here's the verdict.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q16i91t0SLg/UrvIpLloLcI/AAAAAAAAFCA/eFfDGeSwFfk/s1600/IMG_8128.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q16i91t0SLg/UrvIpLloLcI/AAAAAAAAFCA/eFfDGeSwFfk/s400/IMG_8128.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Pork sinigang is one of the favorite dish ordered in Filipino restaurants and so we ordered one. What we got was a bowl with quite a big serving perhaps good for 3 to 4 persons. The soup is plenty with bits of meat and fat, not the usual bony sinigang cut. It tastes quite good even if the soup appears to have some help with sinigang mix as there are also natural ingredients added. They are also a few leafy veggies thrown in the mix. However, it took perhaps 30 minutes for the dish to be served. Perhaps the seeming delay in the serving of the food we ordered may be because they just opened.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RKxmUZFB3BE/UrvJOjCo3BI/AAAAAAAAFCI/ZTmmzmVbyTk/s1600/IMG_8127.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RKxmUZFB3BE/UrvJOjCo3BI/AAAAAAAAFCI/ZTmmzmVbyTk/s400/IMG_8127.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I liked the rellenong talong with the right mix of onions, tomatoes and other ingredients.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hZyXVdbRnR0/UrvMvLCkskI/AAAAAAAAFCU/_Q80QuFkRAE/s1600/IMG_8129.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hZyXVdbRnR0/UrvMvLCkskI/AAAAAAAAFCU/_Q80QuFkRAE/s400/IMG_8129.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The baked scallops were prepared differently. It was as if, the scallop meat shaped into squares were bought separately and placed on the shells when baked. I would have preferred the scallop meat left attached to the shell unaltered in appearance (not trimmed). The result was that the scallops meat appeared to be too small than usual and therefore, it's difficult to appreciate the flavor. This is one dish they need to improve as other restaurants have baked scallops as one of their best sellers.<br />
<br />
On a separate occasion, I got to taste the sinigang ulo ng isda. Among the food we ordered, it was ghe one I liked best. Even if the soup was plenty, we almost consumed the entire soup.<br />

<br />
With regards to the place, it appears very clean and elegant. There is I think 3 function rooms outside the main restaurant itself. The rest room appears well-maintained. There is also parking space in front of the restaurant.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hQslUwp0Y2c/UrvN8JdvodI/AAAAAAAAFDA/h5-PI75jRFc/s1600/IMG_8120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hQslUwp0Y2c/UrvN8JdvodI/AAAAAAAAFDA/h5-PI75jRFc/s320/IMG_8120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The restaurant is worth trying with it's wide range of Filipino food choices and nice ambiance. One can save money if he or she dines with a group as the servings are big and the prices are reasonable.<br />

One of the hottest food stops in Cebu City right now is this charbroiled burger joint in the middle of the city. It is known as Big Tom's. The place used to be a house if word around town is to be believed. Entering the place, one can't help but notice the jars overhead used as makeshift lamps. The atmosphere is especially perfect for the Instagram generation with wifi available and social media icons drawn using chalk on one of the place's walls displaying the establishment's name prominently. Now let's go to the meat of this post.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cS16V6hO3HA/Um4C9aYl2WI/AAAAAAAAE58/Jawq4m_2U1U/s1600/IMG_7522.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cS16V6hO3HA/Um4C9aYl2WI/AAAAAAAAE58/Jawq4m_2U1U/s640/IMG_7522.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The menu</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The above photo shows the menu highlighting the different choices at one's disposal depending on your preference for burgers. Available sizes are 4 oz and 6 oz burgers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yDOfyb-c5zw/Um4EYFdg4BI/AAAAAAAAE6I/Q6En2MSexqQ/s1600/IMG_7533.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yDOfyb-c5zw/Um4EYFdg4BI/AAAAAAAAE6I/Q6En2MSexqQ/s320/IMG_7533.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Burgers are served with a knife and fork along with a wooden chopping board to help you dissect your prey with ease. Many would wish some more fries will be added though. Now for the burger itself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tKEITi2a-4Y/Um4Fy9bUmlI/AAAAAAAAE6U/TuHGvcQeNnc/s1600/IMG_7531.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tKEITi2a-4Y/Um4Fy9bUmlI/AAAAAAAAE6U/TuHGvcQeNnc/s640/IMG_7531.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the Deluxe Cheeseburger. The bun has just the right degree of fluffiness and firmness so as not to hinder your appreciation of the meat. Inside, there's tomato, lettuce and Big Tom's sauce.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Omjc8zYTZA/Um4J5hZm2eI/AAAAAAAAE6g/ewFDY20xLZ8/s1600/IMG_7538.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Omjc8zYTZA/Um4J5hZm2eI/AAAAAAAAE6g/ewFDY20xLZ8/s640/IMG_7538.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
If you noticed, the cheese is Cheez Whiz-looking. Since they put in their blackboard that they are using cheddar cheese, I was expecting the quite solid cheddar cheese slice. Some might prefer to have the traditional cheddar cheese slice for their burger.<br />
<br />
The burger is charbroiled, well done, not flat with just the right thickness. Big Tom's claimed that the patty is freshly prepared daily, never frozen, 100% pure sirloin beef. So let's do the taste test.<br />
<br />
The patty is quite juicy, not dry. The sauteed onions are small enough that it will not stop you from savoring the patty. The add-on veggies and sauce complement well the burger's taste which was blended with just the right mix of ingredients and charred just right, not overcooked or burnt. Approve. Thumbs up. Although I personally wished they have the solid cheese.<br />
<br />
They also have other items in the menu aside from burgers like spaghetti and meat balls and some more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ymOyXB9tg2I/Um5bqhEFWHI/AAAAAAAAE7A/2didg_bjCQ8/s1600/IMG_7532.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ymOyXB9tg2I/Um5bqhEFWHI/AAAAAAAAE7A/2didg_bjCQ8/s640/IMG_7532.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Correction, it's spaghetti and meat ball without an S. Just a single meatball although the meatball was big and yummy. Again, I don't know. I'm for grated cheese instead of the quick-melt kind with my spaghetti. The serving is for someone with a big appetite but it costs around 150 or 160 PHP if I remember correctly.<br />
<br />
Overall, Big Tom's offer great tasting charbroiled burgers. And I forgot to tell you there is wifi.<br />
<br />

It is Ah Phets Noodle Haus and Rice Toppings and we were in for a surprise.<br />
<br />
Since their name has noodles in it, we tried their bestseller, the Beef Brisket noodles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tdQ3APtv4G0/UlwCcRZFcnI/AAAAAAAAE3s/IAK5-qnlT5k/s1600/DSC_1861.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tdQ3APtv4G0/UlwCcRZFcnI/AAAAAAAAE3s/IAK5-qnlT5k/s320/DSC_1861.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Tasting it, one can tell that they are indeed Chinese style noodles. Ah Phet is generous when it comes to their meat and other ingredients with a reasonable price of 65 pesos. Can't wait to try their other noodle dishes soon.<br />
<br />
But it's not just the noodles which deserve a thumbs up. They also have other satisfying items in their menu.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pAyDSp3LnDg/UlwE9oa0Q-I/AAAAAAAAE34/XrsEBFdRR60/s1600/DSC_1856.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Oriental Spring Chicken" border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pAyDSp3LnDg/UlwE9oa0Q-I/AAAAAAAAE34/XrsEBFdRR60/s320/DSC_1856.jpg" title="" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Oriental Spring Chicken</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
One is the Oriental Spring Chicken. At 110 pesos, you get one half chicken serving. Big, isn't it? And it comes with pickled cucumber and carrots and matching sauce. And fried rice. Again, the dish is really Chinese style.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uaHKG7lD1Qo/UlwKhLHY80I/AAAAAAAAE4I/jVhUjudehcQ/s1600/DSC_1859.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Pata Tim" border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uaHKG7lD1Qo/UlwKhLHY80I/AAAAAAAAE4I/jVhUjudehcQ/s320/DSC_1859.jpg" title="" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Humba Pata Tim</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
That picture above is Humba (Pata Tim). The Cebuano favorite is combined with a Chinese restaurant staple to produce a very tender, delicious dish which comes with rice, a separate Pata Tim broth and cucumber with carrots which serve as a good partner to most of their dishes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mj9_uZCA6No/UlwMHcPCY8I/AAAAAAAAE4U/TH52x6iLyIo/s1600/DSC_1860.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mj9_uZCA6No/UlwMHcPCY8I/AAAAAAAAE4U/TH52x6iLyIo/s320/DSC_1860.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
Looks like she can't wait to eat it.<br />
<br />
If you are looking for a hybrid of a traditional Cebuano Chinese restaurant and a Chinese fastfood chain, Ah Phets is a very good alternative. Below is some of their other dish offerings.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JaqnKc8DBE8/Ui_TWE6mE-I/AAAAAAAAEtg/idzQ9AVRHgQ/s1600/IMG_7308.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JaqnKc8DBE8/Ui_TWE6mE-I/AAAAAAAAEtg/idzQ9AVRHgQ/s320/IMG_7308.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
But you don't have to take his word for it. You can try it for yourself. Well, I tried it for myself and so far, I liked it. I am a thin crust pizza person so it was not surprising that I liked this new pizza offering of Greenwich more than their thick crusted counterparts.<br />
<br />
The Pizza Thins have four varieties. Thw Hawaiian, Peperroni, Signature Special and (not in the picture) the All Meat starting at a price of P189 for a double size pizza.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ozn13c6O7BY/Ui_U52wt_QI/AAAAAAAAEt4/wmF1vXHIiMI/s1600/IMG_7310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ozn13c6O7BY/Ui_U52wt_QI/AAAAAAAAEt4/wmF1vXHIiMI/s320/IMG_7310.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hawaiian</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The Hawaiian balances the taste of the ham with the sweetness of the pineapple.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w8b93zfdKHg/Ui_U5bzjyoI/AAAAAAAAEt0/aXx0TnrrSbs/s1600/IMG_7313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w8b93zfdKHg/Ui_U5bzjyoI/AAAAAAAAEt0/aXx0TnrrSbs/s320/IMG_7313.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pepperoni</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The pepperoni is where you can appreciate the thin pizza's crispiness best.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KJGA0uTAPOE/Ui_U82xq9fI/AAAAAAAAEuE/4xiU49OJZ38/s1600/IMG_7315.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KJGA0uTAPOE/Ui_U82xq9fI/AAAAAAAAEuE/4xiU49OJZ38/s320/IMG_7315.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Signature special</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The Signature special along with the Hawaiian is my favorite. It is the combination of all the other three plus (as you can see in the photo) some more spices and ingredients like onions, mushrooms and green peppers.<br />
<br />
What's nice about this new offering is that the thin crust allows one to appreciate more the ingredients making it more flavorful. And even if it is not obvious, the pizza still taste cheezy. The pizza is best eaten while freshly made as it is crispy to the bite. You are not shortchanged of the meat even.<br />
<br />
Senior marketing manager for brand development Lulu de Castro shares, "The new Greenwich Pizza Thins is our answer to the requests of pizza enthusiasts who wish to savor our pizza toppings in a whole new way."cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-36287566006028805872013-08-04T02:36:00.000-07:002013-08-04T02:36:09.551-07:00Kusina ni Nasing Boneless Lechon ReviewA lot of my friends consider the liempo in Kusina ni Nasing as one of the best. From their humble beginnings with liempo as their flagship product, Kusina ni Nasing has added more like their lechon manok, grilled panga and now, the Boneless Lechon. Here is my review for their Boneless Lechon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KLF7B7geav8/Uf4afQjSmUI/AAAAAAAAErQ/F9qeMtDQct0/s1600/DSC_1549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KLF7B7geav8/Uf4afQjSmUI/AAAAAAAAErQ/F9qeMtDQct0/s400/DSC_1549.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Like their liempo, the Boneless Lechon is full of flavor probably because of the spices added to it. However, it appears to be more oily that its liempo counterpart and unlike other Boneless lechon, the pork lechon taste is not evident. I have tasted other boneless lechon brands which retain the typical lechon flavor and kusina ni Nasing's boneless lechon is not like that. However, this is not to say that it isn't delicious. But between their liempo and their boneless lechon, I still like their liempo more which by the way also has a pork rib sibling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jQzJrzjm8v0/Uf4cQL3I9XI/AAAAAAAAErg/68nRQ3DYPN8/s1600/DSC_1550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jQzJrzjm8v0/Uf4cQL3I9XI/AAAAAAAAErg/68nRQ3DYPN8/s400/DSC_1550.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
To "remove the guilt" of eating lechon somewhat, brown rice is available along with their sukang tuba, sili and onions to make the boneless lechon experience complete.<br />
<br />
Below are the other food products offred by Kusina ni Nasing with the price of some varying depending on their weight.<br />

A reminder before we end this post -- Eat moderately, OK?cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-57370109103339760352013-07-23T08:04:00.002-07:002013-07-23T08:04:55.820-07:00Restaurant review: Choobi Choobi in ParkmallOne of the latest restaurants to open in the vicinity of Parkmall is Choobi Choobi, a restaurant that offers mainly Filipino dishes. Choobi Choobi means lingaw lingaw because the owner believes that when you dine in their restaurant, "ma-lingaw" jud mo. You will not get bored eating.<br />
<br />
The restaurant itself is located on the second floor and is open-air type.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BunlF5ixjxE/Ue6NiRIVxgI/AAAAAAAAEoo/CHvK_9NRKqo/s1600/DSC_1552.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BunlF5ixjxE/Ue6NiRIVxgI/AAAAAAAAEoo/CHvK_9NRKqo/s400/DSC_1552.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
It's location and it's being an open-air type establishment is a blessing for food lovers as you get the feeling you are eating on the beach especially if you order seafood or grilled dishes as you get to feel the breeze. "Makagana ug kaon," as they say in Cebuano.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dMgrO73fjB4/Ue6OyrCbi7I/AAAAAAAAEo8/5W_tnEdAwk4/s1600/DSC_1553.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dMgrO73fjB4/Ue6OyrCbi7I/AAAAAAAAEo8/5W_tnEdAwk4/s400/DSC_1553.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The place is quite spacious and I noticed a TV screen in one end of the venue showing cable TV program.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let us go to the food. First up are the dishes not usually served in other establishments.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ever tried balbacua minus the sabaw? Yup, this is the first time I saw crispy balbacua.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3XXFEgxdzxc/Ue6QEIEhRUI/AAAAAAAAEpM/44OGeMj2BhY/s1600/DSC_1564.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3XXFEgxdzxc/Ue6QEIEhRUI/AAAAAAAAEpM/44OGeMj2BhY/s320/DSC_1564.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Crispy balbacua with bagoong at 168 PHP</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then you have some sort of sprouts (I forgot the name, sorry). But it's not alfafa sprouts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CDZczMzVnjU/Ue6RqWUxZkI/AAAAAAAAEpc/0OJUHaThRZ0/s1600/DSC_1566.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CDZczMzVnjU/Ue6RqWUxZkI/AAAAAAAAEpc/0OJUHaThRZ0/s320/DSC_1566.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Then there is the crispy adobong kanding. Usually, kanding (goat) dish is prepared as kaldereta. Not in this dish. It's pinirito.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ohm9LDsW4IM/Ue6SOlPi3QI/AAAAAAAAEpk/LinWow_VmtQ/s1600/DSC_1561.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ohm9LDsW4IM/Ue6SOlPi3QI/AAAAAAAAEpk/LinWow_VmtQ/s320/DSC_1561.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Crispy adobong kambing at 168 PHP</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Next is my personal favorite... LOLA PEPANG's Fried Manok, the owner's family recipe. The chicken is one of the tastiest fried chicken I have tasted. It's not lechon manok but fried chicken. Whole fried chicken. Cooked whole, not half to ensure the recipe's desired taste remains intact.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6jMsZg8CA4/Ue6UIfx80-I/AAAAAAAAEp8/3L_y2XKmYzk/s1600/DSC_1558.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6jMsZg8CA4/Ue6UIfx80-I/AAAAAAAAEp8/3L_y2XKmYzk/s400/DSC_1558.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Part of the whole chicken serving upclose (costs 300 to 360 PHP)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KLvq2BwQVUc/Ue6UCxw8LII/AAAAAAAAEp0/Gl63MhBtfoE/s1600/DSC_1559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KLvq2BwQVUc/Ue6UCxw8LII/AAAAAAAAEp0/Gl63MhBtfoE/s400/DSC_1559.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lola Pepang's chicken (Pardon me for the lighting..I'm using a smartphone)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Then we have a constant presence in Filipino restaurants which is also offered in Choobi Choobi, the Crispy Pata.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QREkDHqvndA/Ue6VDX_V_EI/AAAAAAAAEqI/N1h6pcJU9uA/s1600/DSC_1560.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QREkDHqvndA/Ue6VDX_V_EI/AAAAAAAAEqI/N1h6pcJU9uA/s320/DSC_1560.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Choobi Pata priced at around 320 to 350 PHP and comes with sauce </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Those who are health-conscious need not worry visiting Choobi Choobi because they offer good fish dishes like the Pampano....<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pWsCADqGZxw/Ue6WN-aGQUI/AAAAAAAAEqU/KPng5cZ1wDw/s1600/DSC_1568.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pWsCADqGZxw/Ue6WN-aGQUI/AAAAAAAAEqU/KPng5cZ1wDw/s400/DSC_1568.jpg" width="225" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grilled pampano</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Their tuna belly is fresh, "hindi malansa". No itchiness after eating and cooked just right.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T8ss7ELzUdE/Ue6XV4yUweI/AAAAAAAAEqg/MTPgrD0qgAA/s1600/DSC_1569.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T8ss7ELzUdE/Ue6XV4yUweI/AAAAAAAAEqg/MTPgrD0qgAA/s320/DSC_1569.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Too satisfy the Japanese in one's taste, Choobi Choobi also has Shrimp Tempura.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PGBN6yj7e9U/Ue6YRkZBb8I/AAAAAAAAEqs/8njce60OZGU/s1600/DSC_1567.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PGBN6yj7e9U/Ue6YRkZBb8I/AAAAAAAAEqs/8njce60OZGU/s320/DSC_1567.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shrimp tempura</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
My fellow blogger loves this dish best....the Shrimp in the bag. The shrimps are plenty inside the bag and could come with gata or without. I prefer the one with gata as it complements well the shrimp's natural taste. There's some broth in the bag to put in your rice if you want.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shrimp in the bag with gata</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Choobi Choobi actually provides a lot of choices like Tinolang Manok Bisdak, Utan Monggos to name a few. Another thing I like about Choobi Choobi is their iced tea which is not powdered iced tea but natural and somewhat fruity. It is said to be the the same iced tea offered in a popular hotel.<br />
<br />
You get your money's worth eating at Choobi Choobi's. Really "choobi choobi" as it's name suggests.cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-89400606343844272332013-07-20T16:07:00.003-07:002013-07-20T16:07:58.085-07:00Krispy Kreme 76th Year Brunch Specials<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

In the heart of the busy city but hidden from plainsight, just across the Aboitiz property in Elizabeth Pond St. is a coffee and food hangout residents and students nearby may want to try -- the Bintana.<br />
<br />
Bintana is not your usual coffee shop. It's like you are having coffee or eating meals comfortably at home. It is a homey coffee shop which is said to offer various kinds of coffee like Kalinga, Costa Rica and Colombia. Instead of cakes and pastries, they mainly offer palabok, which is said to be one of their bestsellers, as well as set meals like Mechado with rice and cucumber (pipino) and chicken or meat dishes (like Fried Chicken, Sweet and Fried Porkchop, Pork Bistek and Paksiw Pata).<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DlUYGleG7tI/UeJubDBWnYI/AAAAAAAAEnM/iL5rTnGXWWQ/s1600/DSC_1450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DlUYGleG7tI/UeJubDBWnYI/AAAAAAAAEnM/iL5rTnGXWWQ/s400/DSC_1450.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The menu is written in the blackboard above me.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3_l9-_gnWXg/UeJuwyug44I/AAAAAAAAEnU/ErG1Za6gaE4/s1600/DSC_1463-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3_l9-_gnWXg/UeJuwyug44I/AAAAAAAAEnU/ErG1Za6gaE4/s320/DSC_1463-1.jpg" width="152" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">They offer coffee and their bestsellers, Bintana Burger and Pancit Palabok</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Like I mentioned, the atmosphere is homey as it looks to me that it used to be a house with many windows (bintana). The walls are adorned with paintings and cool music feels the venue. The place can be perfect for celebrating private occasions with a small intimate group of family and close friends. Or it could be a good study area for students living nearby. Or it could be an ideal place for casual talk among friends or even an informal date. The space outside has lamps and tables if people wish to reserve the entire place for a celebration.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hX4JaCyDb08/UeJvRNRctYI/AAAAAAAAEnc/yQpuJ62B5jI/s1600/DSC_1443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hX4JaCyDb08/UeJvRNRctYI/AAAAAAAAEnc/yQpuJ62B5jI/s320/DSC_1443.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
With regards to the food, what we tried as of now is the Burger and the Mechado.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fr1CQAVzS5o/UeJvxc3LmbI/AAAAAAAAEnk/k0MQK27EjQA/s1600/DSC_1451.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fr1CQAVzS5o/UeJvxc3LmbI/AAAAAAAAEnk/k0MQK27EjQA/s320/DSC_1451.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Bintana Burger is juicy and the size is just enough for one to have his fill. It has tomato, pipino, pickles, cheese and mayonnaise if I remember right. It's worth the price of 80 pesos.<br />
<br />
The Mechado is pork-based. It is soft and cooked just right. Too bad, I think my photo of it was inadvertently erased. The Mechado (Tagalog-style) comes with pipino in vinegar and black pepper. The tomato sauce is quite rich and the serving generous as it can feed two persons actually.<br />
<br />
I haven't tried yet the palabok but the owner recommends it. Since Bintana is just new, the choices are not that many but the owner promises to add more items as time passes.<br />
<br />
Being a student once I think Bintana gives for students a study area feel.<br />
<br />
And also I think they are sometimes having an acoustic night in the near future.<br />
<br />
It could be a hidden gem, a potential casual hangout for friends and students having a friendly meal together or coffee in the midst of the "jungles" of Elizabeth Pond Street.<br />

A person who is very particular with his food, he learned from his exposure to different cultures while abroad and for 20 years, his menu just keeps getting better and better incorporating Filipino taste with Asian cuisine influences particularly Thai. His loyal patrons then included non-Filipinos, prominent personalities in Saudi and Cebuano friends.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gYWJ2MxPMmo/UcUub82bPvI/AAAAAAAAEls/EG1XOyKdRlk/s1600/DSC_1410.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gYWJ2MxPMmo/UcUub82bPvI/AAAAAAAAEls/EG1XOyKdRlk/s400/DSC_1410.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The Villa Pilipino restaurant (named after the "villas" or apartments which are plenty in Saudi Arabia) is the product of Mr. David's wish to have a Thai-Filipino restaurant na "pangmasa"; to let the Filipino masses dine and taste Thai food as if it is just Filipino food --- affordable and prepared in such as manner to suit a Filipino's taste. He noticed that some customers sometimes are hesitant to enter Thai restaurants because they perceive it to be expensive. Mr. David does not want any of that. The food choices in the Villa are usually priced at 120 PHP (good for 2) or 240 PHP (good for around 5). And he added that you can have the dish made to suit your taste by instructing the staff, for example, to make your dish "medium hot" or "really hot".<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jdCW6_ZjtcM/UcUuu9xxdBI/AAAAAAAAEl0/NH2tOm7v2RM/s1600/DSC_1420.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jdCW6_ZjtcM/UcUuu9xxdBI/AAAAAAAAEl0/NH2tOm7v2RM/s400/DSC_1420.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mr. David (standing) with the author and his wife</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The Villa Pilipino restaurant in Cebu is the first of many planned by Mr. David. It is flattering to note that he selected Cebu as the first venue for his restaurant in the country, choosing it over his home province in Luzon. And in the process of putting up his restaurant, he is giving hope and helping fresh graduates start their journey.<br />
<br />
Why offer Thai food? "Kasi laging fresh", explaining that Thai food is always prepared fresh and therefore less likely to become spoiled as compared to food prepared early in the morning and served at a later time observed in some food establishments. "Kahit konti lang, mabubusog ka at may lasa talaga", he added. But he also elaborated that his Thai food choices are made taking note of Filipino taste preferences. Yours truly with my wife decided to try his Tom Yung Goon (Hot and Sour Shrimp Soup with Lemon Grass) and experienced what he meant by his food being Thai-Filipino.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6-MQIoUsYIE/UcUp7hTN81I/AAAAAAAAElE/lSRuerZApcc/s1600/DSC_1414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6-MQIoUsYIE/UcUp7hTN81I/AAAAAAAAElE/lSRuerZApcc/s400/DSC_1414.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Tom Yung Goon, medium hot</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
As you can see in the pic, he was generous in using herbs and spices making sure the soup is full of flavor. It may not appear as rich red in the picture but we did not have the feel that it is diluted. I could say it is a nice mix of mostly Thai flavor with a Filipino touch indeed at an affordable price of 120 PHP.<br />
<br />
Another dish ordered by my wife is Stir Fried Chicken in Oyster Sauce also at 120 PHP. It was yummy.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OaLwXu0cA6Q/UcUr6edHY7I/AAAAAAAAElU/oAo35yy5ebc/s1600/DSC_1413.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OaLwXu0cA6Q/UcUr6edHY7I/AAAAAAAAElU/oAo35yy5ebc/s400/DSC_1413.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Stir fried chicken in Oyster Sauce</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The dish was made of mushrooms, carrots, chicken bits, corn and oyster sauce just made right with some nuts. Not bad! And the food was paired with what Mr. David calls "Cebu Champagne", a drink made to taste like champagne without the alcohol content which he specially formulated to provide an alternative to softdrinks, ice teas and alcoholic beverage.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BSLQQhFz4as/UcUt976sIMI/AAAAAAAAElk/JcHj_A-mGgA/s1600/DSC_1417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BSLQQhFz4as/UcUt976sIMI/AAAAAAAAElk/JcHj_A-mGgA/s400/DSC_1417.jpg" width="225" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Cebu Champagne" with mint leaves and some other fruit bits</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
In the menu, there are many choices including Filipino favorites like sinigang. I think there's also some Chinese food selections. Looking at the menu, I think I will come back to try the other selections.<br />
<br />
Though the owner wants to target the masses, the restaurant is airconditioned and has a neat, elegant look with two floor levels and two separate comfort rooms (one for males and one for females). The plan is also to have wifi access in the near future.<br />
<br />
Should you also want to try this new resto, The Villa Pilipino Restaurant Cebu I is located in General Maxilom Avenue across Robinsons Fuente in between Mercury Drug Fuente Osmena and BPI Gen. Maxilom or Mango Avenue branch, Cebu City. It just opened this week.<br />

It opened last year and has been holding baptism celebrations, company parties and family reunions with about 70 persons capacity along with lunch budget meal sets for officemates and students.(They used to be in Arlington Pond St., so Velezians may be familiar with their food).<br />

If you are in Osmena Boulevard, Merilla's is located near the Strip at the Ground Floor of Avon Building. You have to go the back to see it. For those riding the Guadalupe jeepney, it can be seen as you pass by Don Gil Garcia Street, the street next to Osmena Boulevard.<br />

During the Gabii sa Kabilin 2013, I was lucky to witness a demonstration of the process of making tableya traditionally.<br />
<br />
The photo below shows the plant source.<br />

When the cacao fruit ripens, you have them roasted.<br />

The roasted cacao is placed in the grinder and the grinder expresses a chocolate colored product which is then molded into round finished products.<br />

For those new to boodle fight, it is a fun way of eating where all the food is laid down in front of you on top of banana leaves and everybody eats using their bare hands.<br />
<br />
It is this unique experience that one encounters when eating in <a href="http://captain-as.com/">Captain A's Seafood Grill.</a> You can order from several choices of Boodle Fight menu such as these two below.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0KsHt7_F7CE/UR9BdQRZe9I/AAAAAAAAEJ0/sm0MArtdRwc/s1600/DSC_1083.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0KsHt7_F7CE/UR9BdQRZe9I/AAAAAAAAEJ0/sm0MArtdRwc/s320/DSC_1083.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Battle of Mactan</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IPgfsZbI27E/UR9DRwSBw2I/AAAAAAAAEKA/16Zix7hsges/s1600/DSC_1109.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IPgfsZbI27E/UR9DRwSBw2I/AAAAAAAAEKA/16Zix7hsges/s320/DSC_1109.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">D' Original</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Upon serving your meal, the waiters would chant something like, "To the right, To the left...Commence......Boodle Fight!" This adds to the military boodle fight feel. By the way, they provide you with improvised gloves made of thin plastic so that you won't worry about the food getting dirty.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Captain A's has branches in Jose Avila St., Capitol Site near the back of Cebu Doctor's Hospital and also in IT Park. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The one I visited was the one in Capitol Site. It is spacious and the design of the place was made to give the customers the feel of dining inside a ship since their specialty is Seafoods apparently. I think there is a function room for meetings and also a videoke room although I have not tried it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xk8I2fpam0w/UR9GHO3N0wI/AAAAAAAAEK0/9C0lJ3KvYvI/s1600/DSC_1079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xk8I2fpam0w/UR9GHO3N0wI/AAAAAAAAEK0/9C0lJ3KvYvI/s320/DSC_1079.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Back to the food, the Boodle set meals are good for five with drinks also served good for five persons. The price is just about right. Among the food i sampled, I liked the taste of the shrimps, the kare-kare, adobong manok and baboy mix and the crabs.<br />
<br />
The choices are not all set in a Boodle Set Meal. You can order your favorite Filipino dish including Crispy Pata, Kinilaw, Scallops and many others individually. The place is great for barkadas eating and it is this nice barkada atmosphere that makes Captain A's a favorite destination.<br />

<br />
Co Jordan Talaba Bangus Eatery is located in Tayud, Consolacion. It is very easy to locate. Just ride a jeepney to SM Consolacion. Just across SM is where tricycles await plying the route passing Co Jordan. It may be dusty going there though so bring your handkerchiefs.<br />
<br />
So here we are.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DXp0OgdxrUM/UQ4rcxWcTYI/AAAAAAAAEFo/DvUibqQJpnI/s1600/DSC_0929.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DXp0OgdxrUM/UQ4rcxWcTYI/AAAAAAAAEFo/DvUibqQJpnI/s320/DSC_0929.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7eMefQ_U46w/UQ4sBSJtYrI/AAAAAAAAEFw/ccKyS9PK82M/s1600/DSC_0931.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7eMefQ_U46w/UQ4sBSJtYrI/AAAAAAAAEFw/ccKyS9PK82M/s320/DSC_0931.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Don't you love the view?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
For an affordable amount (pardon me forgetting the exact amount), you will be given a makeshift rod 9Do not expect a real professional fishing rod) made of what seems to be bamboo, a net for putting your catch and I think, some bait. Even with this, you can actually catch fish with it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--M5FNtmP4MI/UQ4tIT5SpBI/AAAAAAAAEGI/cuzBTZoIgvo/s1600/IMG_6481.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--M5FNtmP4MI/UQ4tIT5SpBI/AAAAAAAAEGI/cuzBTZoIgvo/s320/IMG_6481.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Just choose an area where you want to position yourself, throw in some fish food, then start to fish. When the milkfish (bangus) pulls the bait, pull up and the fun begins! It is because the fish is slippery...jumping and jumping. In my case, I use the net to finally get hold of the fish.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O83k2V5ZdqY/UQ4uOeg9SvI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/9e5mz_dv7tE/s1600/IMG_6489.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O83k2V5ZdqY/UQ4uOeg9SvI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/9e5mz_dv7tE/s320/IMG_6489.JPG" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yay! My first fish catched in my entire life!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Enough of the fishing. I know you want to see the food! By the way, you can have your catch cooked the way you want it. Of course, you pay for it separately. But there are other items in the menu. Here they are:<br />

You can also choose a particular "cottage" or hut where you will have your meal. There is a big one with a karaoke and there are smaller ones, all affordable. Pang-masa na presyo.<br />

For those who cannot live without Facebook, there is wifi!<br />

If you do not have your own vehicle, going home may be a challenge because the tricycle's going back are full but who cares? Busog na man. Hehe. Just sit and relax and wait for a ride.<br />

This McDo branch will also have a drive-thru and PlayPlace areas children will love. The opening of McDonald's Newtown will pave the way for the launch of other commercial spaces to look forward to. This aside from the fact that luxury condominiums, world-class hotels and high-end retail shops as well as BPO offices are slated to rise in the coming months.<br />
<br />
"McDonald's will undoubtedly be a key lifestyle component in the Mactan Newtwon township, since both residents and employees now have an easily accessible branch in this part of Mactan Island, " shares Jericho Go, Megaworld's first vice-president for Business Development and Leasing group (BDLG).<br />
<br />
Yes indeed. So pay McDo the Mactan Newtown branch a visit sometime this month. Surprises await the customers this month which may include a nighttime firworks display.cebumdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04770663830004684117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712859519380503557.post-26694795061188328892012-10-11T23:39:00.001-07:002012-10-11T23:39:57.156-07:00Cebu's Ayer Lechon Offers Many Choices<a href="http://ayerlechon.com/index.php">Cebu's Ayer Lechon</a> is an emerging player in the lechon department in Cebu City. It has been receiving word-of-mouth recommendations from its customers and is becoming a favorite among Koreans so much so that its lechon may be offered with Kimchi, said to be a good combination.<br />
<br />
One thing going for Ayer or Ayer's Lechon is that it provides customers many choices.<br />
<br />
First, the branches: You can buy lechon prior to taking a flight at it's Mactan Domestic Airport branch. Across Country Club Banilad Road, there is also an Ayer branch. For those working in the IT Park, there is an outlet in the second floor of the I2 Building on top of Starbucks. There's also one in SM City 3rd Level and another one in Salinas Drive Lahug in front of USP.<br />
<br />
Second, it provides not just plain lechon because there are several food items being offered.<br />

The lechon is said to be made from native pigs. With the different food choices, the pig's various parts are never wasted. By the way, other food selections not in the pics are the pork spare ribs (not always available) and the bopis.<br />
<br />
The lechon is crispy as well as the boneless lechon. The boneless lechon for me though is not their best product.The spicy boneless lechon does not have a lechon feel when eaten.<br />
<br />
I love the taste of the lechon paksiw though. The dinuguan on the other hand tastes like dugo-dugo sprinkled with chicharon. Others may want to try the pritchon and the attractive lechon sisig.<br />
<br />
Lastly, Ayers offer various options for ordering. You can order online with the choice to use even Paypal based on what is seen on their website.<br />

It seems that everywhere you go there's a Julie's bakeshop. Be it in the province or in the city. Just like in Cebu. After all, Julie's has its roots in Cebu being founded by Mrs. Julie Gandionco with its first store in Mandaue.<br />
<br />
I practically spent a large chunk of my adult life eating Julie's bread products. During my college days, I pass by a Julie's bakeshop on the way home before riding a jeepney to buy fresh from the oven cheese bread.<br />
<br />
Even now at work, I drop by Julie's doing the same routine. But I do not just buy bread from Julie's, I also eat lunch and sometimes breakfast at Julie's. From a simple bakeshop, it grew. And grew. And grew.<br />
<br />
Aside from cheese bread, they have the "nakakalokong Pan de Coco" as well as various cakes. Then you also have the local favorite Binangkal.<br />
<br />
Julie's is not just about bakeshops. They also reach out to the public. A good example is during the Sinulog when they are one of the sponsors in the Devotee City.<br />
